2017 Marlys Larson Minnesota Gold Scholarship Awards

General Information for Applicants

The Marlys Larson Minnesota Gold Scholarship rewards figure skaters whose home club in in Minnesota and who are motivated, dedicated and shown perseverance in figure skating and have passed their USFS Gold Free Style Test. The awards are intended for the reimbursement of direct expenses incurred for figure skating, education, and further development.

All Minnesota figure skaters that have passed their USFS Gold Free Style test in 2016 are encouraged to apply.

Please read the application qualification requirements carefully. The qualification requirements are:

  • Be a USFS member and be a USFS eligible skater,
  • Be recommended by an Officer from his or her Minnesota Home Club,
  • Have passed the USFS Senior Free Style during before December 31, 2016 and
  • Have your Application postmarked and mailed to Minnesota Skating Scholarship Fund by February 24, 2017.

Race, color, creed, sex, religion, and ethnic background are not considered in the selection of recipients. The Minnesota Skating Scholarship Fund Board of Directors makes the selection of the recipients and the Scholarships are administered though the Minnesota Skating Scholarship Fund office. The continuation of the awards under this program depends entirely upon the amount of contributions to the Marlys Larson Minnesota Gold Skating Scholarship Fund and funds on hand. Awards are for one year only.

Award Instructions and Information for Applicants

  1. Application must be postmarked on or before the deadline of February 24, 2017.
  2. Application must be filled out completely and legibly to be accepted. Please type or use a pen with dark ink; please do not use a pencil.
  3. Application must be signed by either Applicant and/or parent/guardian if under18 years of age, and
  4. Club Officer must send an email or letter to  Herb Morgenthaler at herbmn61@usiwireless.com attesting that Applicant is a member in good standing with her/his Minnesota Club.
